Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the StepRewards app ("Service") operated by Bakkum ("Company," "we," "us").
By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Service Overview
StepRewards is a rewards app that lets you earn points by walking and redeem them for gift cards or cash.
Key Features
- Earn points: reach step milestones → watch a reward ad → scratch a lottery card → collect points
- Exchange points for gift cards (Giftishow Biz, Tremendous, Dgift)
- Withdraw cash (Wise)
- Friend referral rewards (+1P when your invited friend collects a reward)
2. Eligibility and Accounts
- You must be at least 14 years old (or the age of consent in your jurisdiction).
- One account per person. Multiple accounts are not allowed.
- You must provide accurate information when registering.
- You are responsible for keeping your account secure.
- Accounts may not be transferred or shared.
3. Points
3.1 Nature of Points
- Points are not cash and have no guaranteed monetary value.
- Points are valid only within the Service.
- Points cannot be transferred, inherited, or traded.
3.2 Earning Points
- Points are earned through the following process:
- Reach a step milestone (1,000 / 2,000 / 4,000 / 8,000 / 10,000 / 20,000 / 30,000 / 40,000 steps)
- Watch a reward ad (required to claim the milestone reward)
- Scratch a lottery card → points are credited
- Watching a reward ad is mandatory to earn points. Without watching the ad, no points are awarded.
- The following cases are considered incomplete ad viewing, and no points will be awarded:
- Ad failed to load (network error, no ad inventory, etc.)
- Ad was closed or exited before completion
- Ad server verification failed (technical error)
- In such cases, the milestone remains in a pending state and you may retry watching the ad.
- Friend referral rewards: when your invited friend watches a reward ad and claims a reward, you receive +1P. (You must also walk at least 10,000 steps that day to receive friend rewards.)
- Earning rates and conditions may be changed at our discretion with prior notice.
- Daily earning limits may apply.
- Milestone rewards can accumulate up to a maximum of 2. If multiple milestones are achieved at once, only the highest 2 milestones are eligible for reward ad viewing and point collection. Rewards for remaining milestones are forfeited.
3.3 Using Points
- Points can be redeemed for gift cards or cash withdrawals.
- Minimum redemption/withdrawal amounts apply.
- Redemption terms may change with prior notice.
3.4 Point Expiration
- Points expire automatically 1 year (12 months) from the date they were earned.
- We will notify you 30 days before expiration.
- Points may also expire after 12 months of account inactivity.
4. Withdrawals
4.1 Methods
- South Korea: Toss Payments (bank transfer)
- Global: Wise (direct bank transfer)
- Japan: Wise (direct bank transfer)
4.2 Conditions
- The minimum withdrawal amount is 1,000 points.
- Daily withdrawal limits apply.
- Withdrawal fees may apply.
- Processing may take 1–5 business days.
4.3 Identity Verification (KYC)
- We may require identity verification before processing withdrawals.
- Failure to provide required verification may result in withdrawal restrictions.
5. Gift Card Redemption
- Gift cards are available through Giftishow Biz, Tremendous, and Dgift.
- Redeemed gift cards cannot be cancelled or refunded.
- Gift card usage is subject to the issuer's terms.
6. Prohibited Activities and Fraud
The following are strictly prohibited:
- Manipulating or faking step counts
- Using automation tools, emulators, or hacking techniques
- Creating multiple accounts
- Abusing the referral system
- Interfering with the normal operation of the Service
- Using another person's account without authorization
- Acquiring points through any fraudulent means
Consequences of Fraud
- Immediate account suspension
- Forfeiture of all accumulated points
- Cancellation of pending withdrawals
- Legal action may be taken if warranted.
Deduction and Withholding of Irregular Points
- The Company may deduct or withhold points that are reasonably determined to have been acquired through abnormal or fraudulent means.
- The affected user will be notified of the reason for such action.
- However, the specific detection criteria and algorithms may not be disclosed in order to prevent fraud.
- Users may file an objection through customer support, and the Company will provide the review results within a reasonable period.
Fraud Detection
We use device fingerprinting, step pattern analysis, location data, usage behavior, and other methods to detect fraud.
7. Advertising
- The Service displays reward ads through Google AdMob.
- Watching reward ads is required to earn points. After reaching a step milestone, you must watch a reward ad to scratch a lottery card and receive points.
- App-opening ads and banner ads may also be displayed. These ads are unrelated to point accumulation.
- We do not endorse or guarantee the content of third-party ads.
8. Service Changes and Termination
- We may modify or discontinue any part of the Service as needed.
- If we discontinue the Service, we will provide at least 30 days' notice.
- Upon service termination, we will provide a reasonable period to use remaining points.
9. Limitation of Liability
- We are not liable for service interruptions due to force majeure or system failures.
- We are not liable for damages caused by your actions or negligence.
- Our liability for third-party service errors (payment processors, gift card issuers) is limited.
- We do not compensate for changes in point value.
- To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability shall not exceed the amount you have withdrawn from the Service in the 12 months prior to the claim.
10. Intellectual Property
- All content, designs, and software in the Service are our intellectual property.
- You may use the Service only for personal, non-commercial purposes.
- Unauthorized reproduction, distribution, or reverse engineering is prohibited.
11. Account Deletion
- You may delete your account at any time through the app.
- All remaining points will be forfeited upon deletion.
- Personal data will be handled according to our Privacy Policy.
- You may re-register with the same email, but previous points will not be restored.
12. Changes to These Terms
- We may update these Terms with at least 7 days' prior notice.
- Material changes will be notified 30 days in advance.
- If you disagree with the changes, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.
- Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
- These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea.
- Disputes shall be submitted to the court with jurisdiction over the Company's location.
- For international users, mandatory local laws may take precedence where applicable.
